Pictures of a combined exercise for New Zealand Army and Royal New Zealand Air Force, with more than 600 troops, along the Napier Taihape Rd, areas of the Kaweka Forest, Gwavas Forest, SH50, Central Hawke's Bay townships and Roys Hill. Twelve US Marines and eight US Army soldiers also took part.

For many children and parents the weekend means morning sport. The junior winter codes started their seasons at the weekend and Hawke’s Bay Today photographers Paul Taylor and Glenn Taylor caught some of the football, Intermediate schools canoe polo and netball highlights.

Hawke's Bay once again proved itself the most happening place in New Zealand over the Easter break. Events included a Big Easy cycle ride including a first-time ever ride on the Hawke's Bay Airport runway, the Highland Games, the Napier Performing Arts competitions, a Bike n' Hike down Kahuranaki, the Puketapu Pub Pig Hunt and the start of the week-long National Youth Drama School.
Our photographers also attended sports events including Bay Hawks basketball, rugby, soccer, bucket racing, the 12-13 year-old interprovincial athletics, Hastings races and a national karate tournament.

Scores of cyclists rode a 45km trail from Havelock North to Taradale in the Big Easy Cycling Extravaganza on Saturday. Yesterday planes made way for 500 bikes at Hawke's Bay Airport for Ride the Runway described by organisers as a world first. Hawke's Bay Today chief photographer Warren Buckland and photographer Duncan Brown were there.

Finals game of the inaugural Furnware cup held on Sunday morning between Iona of Havelock North and Napier Girls High School at the regional Sports park in Hastings.
The SpecSavers Hastings Half Marathon saw 176 participants run a course that started and finished at the Havelock North Rugby Clubrooms yesterday. Photographer Glenn Taylor was there.

The Central Pulse netball team was at Hawke's Bay Regional Sports Park, Hastings, on Saturday for their Hawke's Bay Regional Roadshow. Photographer Duncan Brown was there to catch the action.
The annual Miss Bluewater Competition was held at The Bluewater Hotel on Saturday night as bikini babes strutted their stuff on the catwalk in the hope of walking away with $1500 worth of cash prizes.
