It was a beauty of a Boxing Day in the Bay and locals were out in force to bask in the stunning sunshine. A pleasing 24C saw hundreds of people take to the water for a range of recreation. Hawke’s Bay Today photographer Duncan Brown captured the scenes under the sun.

The Tremains Christmas Lights are in full swing. Many people went out under the cover of darkness to explore the homes, businesses, gardens, letterboxes and trees that have been transformed into dazzling Christmas wonderlands. Crowds descend on centre for carnival

Hundreds swamped the centre of Havelock North on Saturday for the Havelock North Village Street Carnival. Some perused the artisan stalls, while children made the most of games and the bouncy castle. A chilli-eating competition put on by The Hits radio station was a favourite with the crowd, as masses gathered to watch competitors chomp three chillies each and guzzle milk to cool the burn. Chief photographer Warren Buckland joined in the fun.
