Area Description:

Inshore waters between Cape Kidnappers and Portland Island.

Situation:

A ridge of high pressure lies over the country while a weak front moves slowly over central New Zealand today. The front moves southwards over the north of the South Island tomorrow. A front moves onto central New Zealand late Saturday as the flow turns southwest. The front should weaken and move northwards over the North Island on Sunday. Meanwhile a ridge builds over the South Island and a high pressure system approaches the country on Monday.

Thursday: Variable 5 knots. Easterly 15 knots developing for a time in the afternoon. Sea slight. Fine. Fair visibility in showers developing this afternoon. Southerly swell half a metre. Easterly swell half a metre developing.
