Situation:
A southwesterly flow strengthens across the country today and tomorrow with heavy southwest swells developing along exposed coasts. The southwest flow eases on Sunday. On Monday a ridge of high pressure affects the far north of New Zealand with a westerly flow farther south. On Tuesday, a ridge of high pressure affects the far north but a westerly flow covers the remainder of the country.

For Hawke Bay: Today: Southwest 30 knots gusting 40 knots, changing westerly 15 knots late morning. Rising to westerly 30 knots gusting 40 knots in the afternoon. Rough sea easing for a time late morning and afternoon. Poor visibility in morning rain, clearing to fine about midday. Southerly swell 1 metre. Easterly swell half a metre or less.
