A front slowly moves northwards over the South Island today. Meanwhile a ridge of high pressure remains over the North Island. The front weakens tomorrow and becomes slow moving over central New Zealand. On Tuesday, a weakening front continues to move over central New Zealand. Meanwhile a ridge of high pressure builds over the South Island. On Wednesday, the weakened front moves northwards over the North Island. A new cold front approaches the southern South Island late in the day, bringing a southerly flow for most parts of the country as it moves northwards on Thursday.
