Situation:

The front moves southeast across the country, bringing heavy rain and strong northeasterly winds to northern and central New?Zealand. On Friday morning, the front moves east of the country. A trough moves northwards across central and northern New Zealand on Saturday, followed by southerlies and a period of rain. On Sunday and Monday, a ridge of high pressure builds across the South Island, while southerlies continue over the North Island.

For Hawke Bay: Today: Northeast 20 knots gusting 30 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the afternoon, then to 30 knots gusting 40 knots for a time in the evening. Easing to 20 knots late evening. Sea becoming rough for a time in the afternoon and evening. Poor visibility in periods of rain, heavy at times. Southerly swell 1 to 1.5 metres.
